The Melvins With Napalm Death: Savage Imperial Death March (Orchid Vinyl)

Savage Imperial Death March is the first proper full-length collaboration between Melvins and Napalm Death, released on 10 April 2026 through Ipecac Recordings. The Orchid variant is listed by Rough Trade as LP – Orchid with catalogue number IPC297LP-C1. 

This record has a great hook before you even drop the needle. It grew out of the bands’ joint Savage Imperial Death March tours, but this is not a split release or a novelty side project. It is a real collaborative album with both camps fully involved, and that alone makes it a pretty serious item for heavy music heads. Revolver’s announcement also notes that it marks their first studio project together under the shared moniker. 

The appeal is obvious. Melvins bring the lurching, ugly, off-centre weight, while Napalm Death bring the grind, violence, and sheer propulsion. Early coverage has framed it as a meeting point between sludge, noise rock, and grindcore, which is exactly what you would want from these two names on the same sleeve. Kerrang described it in terms of rampaging riffs and unabashed weirdness, which sounds about right. 

For collectors, the Orchid vinyl is a distinct coloured pressing separate from the standard black LP. The cleanest identifier for that specific version is catalogue number IPC297LP-C1 and EAN/UPC 0689230029731. Some retailers list the black edition under IPC297LP with 0689230029717, so it is worth keeping the Orchid SKU separate in your listing to avoid confusion. 

Another nice detail is that the wider 2026 release appears to be an expanded version of the original 2025 tour-only issue, with new artwork by Mackie Osborne and two additional tracks, namely “Awful Handwriting” and “Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy.” That gives this edition more than just variant-colour appeal. It is the proper retail version to own.
