The Evil Dead franchise has never been interested in subtlety, and Evil Dead Burn continues that tradition with another descent into demonic possession, violence and supernatural terror. Behind the music are French composing duo Double Danger, whose approach to the film’s soundtrack transforms an ordinary family home into something altogether more sinister.
Comprising Xavier Caux and Douglas Cavanna, Double Danger treat the house itself as a central element of the score. Groaning structures, oppressive atmospheres and escalating tension form the sonic foundation for director Sébastien Vaniček’s terrifying new chapter in the Evil Dead universe. Rather than simply reproducing the musical language of earlier films, the composers have developed a distinctive sound designed around the building’s transformation into a living nightmare.
For horror soundtrack collectors, Waxwork Records has given the album suitably diabolical treatment. This deluxe double LP is pressed on Demonic Inferno coloured vinyl, combining translucent black with heavy fiery orange splatter. The records are housed in a heavyweight gatefold sleeve featuring original artwork by Steve Reeves, who also created the packaging artwork for Waxwork’s Evil Dead Rise soundtrack.
Completing the presentation is a 12-inch full-colour printed insert. With the complete 33-track soundtrack spread across four sides, this is a substantial collector’s edition celebrating one of horror cinema’s most enduring franchises.
