When We’ve Come For You All arrived in 2003, Anthrax had a point to prove. The previous decade had been turbulent, lineup changes had tested the band’s identity, and many had written them off as a relic of thrash metal’s golden era. Instead of playing it safe, Anthrax delivered one of the heaviest, most aggressive and refreshingly modern albums of their career. More than twenty years later, it stands as one of the band’s most underrated releases.

Rather than chasing trends or attempting to recreate the glory days of Among The Living, Anthrax forged ahead with a revitalised sound. The addition of vocalist John Bush had already transformed the band’s direction on Sound of White Noise, but We’ve Come For You All found the lineup firing on all cylinders. Bush’s gritty, commanding vocals give the album a darker edge, while Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello and Rob Caggiano deliver some of the tightest performances in the band’s catalogue.

The opening one-two punch of “Contact” and “What Doesn’t Die” immediately announces Anthrax’s intentions. Massive riffs, relentless drumming and an infectious groove prove the band had lost none of their intensity. “What Doesn’t Die” has since become a modern Anthrax classic, perfectly balancing thrash aggression with memorable hooks and a chorus built for live audiences.

The quality rarely dips. “Superhero” is driven by one of Scott Ian’s finest riffs, “Refuse To Be Denied” captures the band’s trademark attitude, and “Safe Home” offers one of the most emotional performances John Bush ever committed to tape. The album constantly shifts between crushing heaviness, melodic restraint and groove without ever feeling disjointed.

One of the album’s greatest strengths is its production. Rob Caggiano and Paul Crook helped craft a huge, contemporary guitar sound that still feels powerful today. Charlie Benante’s drumming is explosive throughout, while Frank Bello’s bass provides a muscular foundation that gives every song real weight. The mix is modern without becoming overly polished, preserving the raw energy that has always defined Anthrax.

Looking back, We’ve Come For You All deserves far more recognition than it often receives. It successfully bridges classic thrash with the heavier production values of the early 2000s while remaining unmistakably Anthrax. The songwriting is consistently strong, the performances are exceptional, and John Bush delivers one of the finest vocal performances of his career.

The Limited Edition CD featuring the distinctive die-cut slipcase has become particularly desirable among collectors. The packaging, combined with one of Anthrax’s strongest modern albums, makes it an essential addition to any serious heavy metal collection.
