Anton Szandor Lavey: Satanic Mass (Clear Vinyl)

$80.99

Satanic Mass is a unique work—it is not a musical album in the conventional sense but rather a ritual / spoken-word recording capturing a live Satanic mass conducted by Anton Szandor LaVey at the Church of Satan headquarters (The Black House) on September 13, 1967.

The first side (or opening portion) documents the baptism of LaVey’s daughter Zeena, a controversial and symbolic act within the ritual context.

The latter portion transitions into recitations from The Satanic Bible (verses I–V) over ambient or composed musical interludes (e.g. selections from Beethoven, Wagner, Sousa)

In expanded / reissue editions (including the Red/Black Splatter version), “Battle Hymn Of The Apocolypse” (aka Hymn Of The Satanic Empire) is included as a bonus piece.

This is more of a documentary / ritual artifact than an album of songs. Its power lies in its atmosphere, its historical/cult significance, and the theatrical nature of the ceremony. It’s intended for listeners interested in occult, ritual, spoken word, and Satanic symbolism more than conventional music listeners.
