Queens Of The Stone Age return with Perfecth, their ninth studio album and first full-length since 2023’s In Times New Roman…. Produced by Joshua Homme and Michael Shuman, the record was developed across sessions in New Orleans and Los Angeles, with the band deliberately giving its nine songs distinct personalities while tying them together through themes of love, loss, desire and what survives after things fall apart.
There’s a compelling contradiction at the heart of Perfecth: Queens Of The Stone Age remain seductive and groove-heavy, but the music is also restless, bruised and occasionally strange. The title itself deliberately mangles the word “perfect” — Homme’s rejection of the idea that perfection actually exists. The album instead draws inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics in a way that makes their fractures part of their beauty.
The current line-up of Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore sounds deliberately unguarded, with the album moving between menacing rock, tenderness, surrealism and widescreen experimentation rather than settling into one comfortable QOTSA formula. It feels less like an attempt to recapture an earlier era and more like five musicians continuing to bend the language they created.
This edition is the independent-retailer exclusive Transparent Vinyl LP, issued through Matador Records on 30 October 2026.
