Celebrating Turbonegro

2nd AustralAsian World Turbojugend Days March 5-8th 2020

For the second time since Norwegian Death Punk band Turbonegro graced our continent with their presence in 2012, the Australian Turbojugend is organising a big get-together to celebrate the local variety of the global fan-club that Turbonegro has developed over the last 25 years…

Some of the Australian and New Zealand chapters are amongst the oldest worldwide and this year Melbourne joins Hamburg plus Guadalajara in holding a dedicated global meeting of the Turbojugend. Since the first meeting in Hamburg 2004 the WorldTurboJugendDays are a place to meet the people we are interacting with online (often for the first time) to party good & proper.

Each WorldTurboJugendDays is basically a similar event in its core but they also represent the specific culture of the hosting continent. Australia/New Zealand is special here because while the rest of the Turbojugend worldwide consists of roughly 3⁄4 fans of the band and 1⁄4 fans of the band who are also active musos the ratio in Australia is reverse. We have more musos than fans and this became the idea behind making the Melbourne meeting all about the music.

Every band playing has at least one member of Turbojugend chapters or are affiliated with the Jugend. When we learned that unfortunately we couldn’t get Turbonegro to come over to play we decided to perform the classic Australian move if the band you like won’t come here: play their songs yourself!

All the bands will play one Turbonegro song in their own way, we will record the songs and bring them out as the third instalment of the tribute to Turbonegro series Alpha Motherfuckers (2002), Omega Motherfuckers (2014) and now Down Under Motherfuckers – live. This is a not-for-profit event so all proceedings go towards making the album.
